Attack report:

My husband and I were walking our Japanese Spitz on a lead along Murray river on Rob Loxton Rd, Walker Flat. We saw a big dog without a lead, most likely a German Shepherd, who reacted as we approached him by standing still first and then running straight into us. I picked up my dog but that didn’t help much as the attacking dog pulled our dog’s legs so hard that the next moment I was lying on the ground. My husband tried to separate the dogs as hard as he could falling and hurting himself badly in the process. By that time the attacking dog’s owner was trying to grab his dog and pull him away which he eventually did. Our dog ended up in the Southern animal hospital being operated overnight for a huge laceration. She is now recovering at home. Both my husband and myself have bruises all over our bodies as a result of falling on the bitumen.
