Attack report:

My husband and I going for morning walk with our 4yo Tenterfield Terrier (on lead) when a Staffordshire Terrier came charging towards us and attacked our dog - (no owners in sight). My husband yelled at the attacking dog, and at this stage the Staffy had my dog in its mouth shaking it . My husband then kicked the Staffy and my dog was dropped to the ground ground.

While my dog was on the ground the staffy stood over our dog trying to grab it in its mouth again, my dog was grabbed in its mouth again shaking my dog on the ground. At this stage we noticed and heard a woman yelling abuse at my husband for kicking her dog but she made no effort to come over and take control of the dog. Then a male owner appeared and joined in abusing my husband and stayed on the curb making no attempt to take control of their dog. I tried telling them their dog was attacking our dog repeatedly but they kept hurling abuse and staying away from their dog.
I tried to stop the Staffy from coming towards my dog again but my husband yelled at me to stay away as he feared for my safety and placed himself between the Staffy and myself and kicked it to stay away. The Staffy sat on the ground, only then did the owner call his dog but the dog ignored him. Finally the owner walked over with no apology or concern for my dog and took the dog back to their unsecured residence. Very traumatic. I carried my yelping dog all the way home as we were both shaking.
