I would like to register another dog complaint and this time it is very scary experience, Yesterday I walking in Durant Rd Reserve along Standard Avenue, Croydon Park along with my 2 year old son, wife and my friends family (him, his wife and 10 year old daughter) accompanied by our dog Milo at around 4:30pm 28th April 2019.
Within 5 minutes we have observed another dog without leash and no one accompanying it. It started to move forward toward us with an intention to harm so we started to move into the fenced playground in the reserve. Meanwhile this dog aggressively moved forward attacking on dog. Within minutes this dog had over powered my dog and started to bite him with an extreme intention to kill my dog. The dog's owner (who appeared) and I tried to get them apart unsuccessfully for 5 minutes. Once separated, we quickly moved into the children playground along with our seriously injured dog.
We called 000 since the attacking dog was still roaming around with the intention of attacking again. Emergency services suggested we contact the council's animal management. The council's after hours service failed to connect, so we were left on our own. We managed to get our dog to the emergency vet at 119 Anzac Highway (Adelaide Animal Emergency & Referral Centre). Our dog was badly bruised in multiple locations and his skin was punctured in 3 places. The vet mentioned that the dog's injuries were life threatening.
Things that I would like to consider:
1. Action against this owner who refused to provide my his/dogs details as it seems his dog doesn't have council tag.
2. This dog needs to be managed with high care or put down as we are now scared to go to our local park with our young dog.
3. Plan some action for the dogs in this community who are very violent and danger to the local people.
I have attached video link of the owner who own this dog during this incidence,
